Cerebral venous thrombosis presenting as subarachnoid haemorrhage.

Headache of subacute onset, associated with other signs of increased intracranial pressure, represents the most frequent symptom of cerebral thrombophlebitis. We report a case of subarachnoid hemorrhage as a rare presentation of cerebral thrombophlebitis. Unfractionated intravenous heparin treatment resulted in resolution of subarachnoid hemorrhage on control brain CT scan and quick clinical re...

Cerebral venous thrombosis initially presenting with acute subarachnoid hemorrhage.

We report the case of a 44-year-old man with superior sagittal and transverse sinus thrombi, who initially presented with venous subarachnoid hemorrhage over the right parietal sulci. After 7 days of intravenous anticoagulation therapy, his condition stabilized. Cerebral venous thrombosis can be difficult to diagnose and is further complicated when patients initially present with acute subarach...

Cerebral venous thrombosis with subarachnoid hemorrhage: a case report.

Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) presenting as subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is infrequent. We present the case of a man with CVT of the right transverse sinus who presented with a SAH in the right parietal sinus. In this case, we describe a hyper-homocysteinemia in a heterozygous patient for the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase C667T mutation. Our report highlights the value of an early dia...

Cerebral venous thrombosis presenting with headache only and misdiagnosed as subarachnoid hemorrhage.

INTRODUCTION Patients with headache constitute up to 4.5% of emergency department (ED) visits. [1] Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is an important cause of the headache that is more common than once suspected. The diagnosis of CVT is often missed or delayed because of nonspecific clinical manifestations, and brain computerized tomography (CT) may easily be misinterpreted. [2] Herein we report ...

Diffuse Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Secondary to Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis

BACKGROUND Aneurysmal rupture accounts for the majority of nontraumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH).
